MIC oh MIC

Good circus show though…

First, they look ignorant on the Indians plights, giving rise to Hindraf and things get too heated, they say that they are the only hope for Indians in Malaysia but looking at the “reception” that they been getting, they embarked into a “long but laughable” advertisements in the mainstream media (where else) on the “achievements” that they have done for the Indians but at the end of day, when it looks like all hope is lost, they resort to threats. So, typical of desperate people, isn’t it?

I am on short break from Internet for 2 days…

Matilah Kau Pak Lah!

29 February 2008 B.Joe 2 comments

Interesting entry from Malaysia Today:-

Kawan-kawan, there was much drama at the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial yesterday. Someone is trying to do a number on someone. There are no angels involved. Only devils. For a minute the case was adjourned and the courtroom almost cleared.

The newspapers were not allowed to report on what really went on. Only a portion of what happened was reported in the press. Here is The Star version:

Abdul Razak kicks and hits door at murder trial

Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda, who is being tried for abetting two policemen in murdering Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, lost his cool on the 90th day on Wednesday. He had a dissatisfied look when his father Datuk Abdullah Malim Baginda whispered something to him before the hearing began at about 9.30am. After the proceedings were adjourned for lunch, however, the 48-year-old political analyst, surprised all those present in the High Court when he suddenly kicked and banged the door with his hands. He was also seen crying before his lawyer Wong Kian Kheong and mother calmed him down.

Before the hearing began at 9:30 am, Razak Baginda’s father had whispered something to him. This made Razak angry the whole day. Finally, about three hours later, Razak Baginda could not stand it any longer and exploded. What did he say? Reporter friends who were there said that Razak shouted again and again, “Matilah kau Pak Lah! Matilah Pak Lah! I am innocent! I am innocent!” (Note: Matilah kau Pak Lah = You die, Pak Lah, Pak Lah referring to the PM)

Then he went into a mad rampage and kicked the chairs and doors in the courtroom. Even the Judge was shocked and did not know what to do. Both the defense lawyers and the prosecution team were also all shocked. The story goes that Razak Baginda’s father whispered instructions to his son to incriminate his former boss Najib Tun Razak. The instruction came from the Pak Lah camp. This was yet another deal they were trying to make – Razak Baginda’s life for Najib’s head.

The story is that Najib is outshining Badawi in this coming general election. Najib may win big in Pahang but Pak Lah may win small or even lose his seat in Kepala Batas. The Pak Lah camp may also suspect that Najib’s people are working in the background to embarass Pak Lah in Kepala Batas. Hence the ‘whisperings’ through Razak Baginda’s father.

The Sun newspaper carried the story, complete with Razak Baginda’s outburst. However, the Home Ministry asked The Sun to withdraw their first run which carried the ‘Matilah Kau Pak Lah!’ outburst by Razak Baginda. The Sun had to withdraw thousands of copies of their print run early this morning.

Strange things are happening in the country folks. No angels are involved. Only devils.

The election is getting dirtier by the minutes

YouTube and Political Blogging

28 February 2008 B.Joe 2 comments

It may be discounted by some Barang Naik BN politicians but access to Internet is one good way to wake up to the spins running in the mainstream media, playing up the Government actions and down playing values of Opposition parties.

And speaking about the Internet, one key item to look out for, other than websites and blogs is video hosting sites like YouTube and Google Video. And what a journey it has been for these sites in the context of Malaysia! Some of the best ones has been the Lingam video, Samy Vellu being roughen up by Indians (top in my list), Hindraf rally, Bersih rally, temple demolishment, Opposition election videos and many more.

So, for those who been accessing these video hosting sites, there no words to be interpreted as they can see and hear “real-time”. So, if the mainstream media reported otherwise, then everyone knows how un-bias some reporting has really been.

But the internet has been and will always have a disadvantage over mainstream media in the sense that it can only be accessed by a few. Many more are simply unaware the existence of “juicy” videos. You can post the videos on your blogs but without internet access, who is going to watch them. They will remain ignorant and likely to agree to the spins in the mainstream media.

But no worry, those with internet can help.

I have downloaded many videos from YouTube and watch them with my family and friends and they get a big shock of certain videos which they never knew existed. But then how one can download videos from YouTube? There is no “download” button anywhere on the website – so how? It is easy to download – simple but you need to use the Firefox browser first.

Then you need to add a Firefox extension called downloadhelper. Once added, then go to YouTube and click on the video that you want to watch. You then noticed the downloadhelper icon starts to animate. Click on this icon and you will be asked the save the video as a “*.flv” video. This is the file that plays the video but how to play a flv file? Forget Microsoft Media Player, you need an flv player. Google “free flv player” and you should get that suits you – I use Applian’s flvplayer, easy and quick to use.

Now you have the videos and a player to play – show to those without internet access and impress them. They can learn a thing or two about Malaysian Politicians too.

Special Occasion

27 February 2008 B.Joe 2 comments

(One of the “achievements” todate – landing in Kabul amidst Talibans & Nato forces)

Celebrated on a yearly basis but this year, there is a slight significant for I think I have reached the mid point of my life (ya, I have set a vision on when my “expiry” date will be and if can last longer than that, it is a bonus).

And I have come a long way too and looking back, the achievements were not so bad for I:-

Have married (considering this against some of my “unmarried” friends)

Have a lovely kid (healthy, witty, funny and the one that bring cheers to me and my wife)

Have bought a good sized house (far from 2 bedroom cramped apartment that we used live in)

Have a working car (it is a Proton but at least it is running well)

Have a great working environment (perfect place to work, period)

Have both my parents still alive and well (my kid is having a great time of his life)

Have my grandmother still alive and well (I have great time of my life when I am at her house)

Have no major sickness (other than occasional flu)

Am a season blogger (who updates blog regularly)

Have been to Kabul (next “best” thing after Iraq)

Still able to drink alcohol (without major problems to the heart)

Knows the issues well (in other words knows the “spins” by the government well)

More to come…

Work with Me…Again Lah

26 February 2008 B.Joe Leave a comment

(Freedom of religion – wasn’t this part of the old manifesto)

Work with me once again, hmmm? Correct correct correct – so here we go again, another candy-coated “manifesto” launched by the Barang Naik BN supremo, Pak Lah

Sorry Pak Lah but I did found couple of jokes down there but the seemly classic ones are:-

Bring down the country’s crime index (Ya, now this is a surprise? Isn’t something the police been paid to do an on-going basis?)

Raise the nation’s productivity, income and competitiveness levels (With the NEP deeply entrenched to benefit a few, I hardly see how BN can achieve this in the short run, whilst the rest of nations surrounding Malaysian is tripling its competitiveness)

Ensure provision of reserve land for places of worship in newly developed areas in accordance with developed guidelines (is this means more temples to be demolished in other areas? Policy is one thing but what the Little Napoleons do is another thing)

Increase dialogue on inter-faith issues through the Department of National Unity and National Integration (But Islamisation remains on the table affecting the Non Muslims? Remember the problems with the so-called converts?)

Enough said about the manifesto, read another take on it here and here

Manifesto remains nothing but flowery words on colourful paper unless it is acted on aggressively. Otherwise the manifesto is won by those who can use the better words. Did you BN guys acted upon the old manifesto?

You can fool Malaysians some times but not all the times you know? Thanks to the “work with me, not for me” fiasco, there is more Malaysians “working against Pak Lah” and hopefully it is translated into valuable votes for Oppositions.

The same old promise made by the same people but it is hard to buy this time around.
