Just Clueless

Hmmm…

You can’t help deducting that there are way too many clueless guys running about in MIC these days especially when one makes unnecessary statements in the press as this:-

PUTRAJAYA: Comments by MIC leaders were taken more seriously 10 to 15 years ago when the party was seen as the sole representative of Malaysian Indians and enjoyed the support of about 90% of the community.

“Now that the Indians are divided into several political parties, questions are sometimes raised whether the views we present are that of the whole community or just a portion of it.

“This sometimes reduces the impact of the statements we make,” said MIC secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam yesterday. He said he agreed with PPP supreme council member T. Murugiah’s statement that too many parties representing the community could only have a negative impact on efforts to champion the community’s struggles.

Dr Subramaniam said it was necessary for Indians to be under one umbrella for a stronger voice.

(From theStar)

Whilst it is an undeniable fact that if the community is united under one umbrella, the voice is stronger but then the question arises – what kind of umbrella that the Indians want to be?

Let’s trace back 10 – 15 years ago, a time when MIC was the “king” of Indians and “90%’ of the community was firmly behind MIC (no matter what bad the party and the leaders represented themselves.) MIC continued to garner enough votes to have majority representations in both federal and state governments. Then in 2008, there was major swing in both the votes and support and MIC is left standing in the wilderness with their pants down. Even the ever mighty MIC president was shown the exit from his constituency.

Then what happened? What had changed in the last 10 – 15 years? Has MIC made serious attempts to look into this?

Look at the issues that hits the nerve of the community namely, the temple issue, crime, poverty, lack of opportunities and of course, the yet to be closed issue of MAIKA. These issues are not new and it is has been painfully been with the community for a very long time, at least for the last 10 – 15 years. The emergence of other voices for the community such as Hindraf and Pakatan Rakyat had caused the community to take the fight to another platform.

Despite this what MIC decided to do? Instead of coming up with concentrate solutions to address the shortcomings on how they handled the community issues, they decided to maintain almost the same people at the top and embarked on window dressing options (remember their “rebranding” campaign?)

Long time issues such as MAIKA fiasco remains unresolved till this day and there has not been much changes on the leadership direction of MIC, so what is there for the community to continue to support them? Isn’t it high time that the community is represented by a much wider community called Bangsa Malaysia to addresses its grievousness?

Pakatan Rakyat for the time being is moving in the right direction, MIC on the other hand is not.

Clueless Sam

A Mystery

Unsuspecting, I got my son into the car yesterday morning, unlocked the main gates and drove out to send my son to school.

When I came back, somehow I decided not to park the car in the driveway but instead I parked just outside the house. As I walked back, I noticed something on the driveway.

A closer look reveals it is an animal poo. I decided to clean the area before it gets messy – I scooped the unwanted item into a paper and washed the floor using a high powered water spray. It did not take long before I got the area cleaned. I walked back into the house and switched on the TV.

Even though I was busy watching the TV, something still bothered me – which animal “pooed” in my drive way? Based on past encounters, I quickly dismissed lizard, rat, cat and dog and that left me with a very concerned, possible answer.

Not sure of the source, I decided to take some extra precautions – cleaned up the place, inform others and make sure there is no unguarded door left opened. I tried to check on the internet but the answer was not conclusive.

But all trails seem to lead to one possible animal – snake! There have been reports of snakes near the neighbourhood but this is indeed getting serious. Very serious

Mat Rempit Menace

(War on the menace of civilised society – Image source: www.opstupe.blogspot.com)

Mat Rempit, the darlings of UMNO Youth are at it again.

From theSun:-

The police have declared war on mat rempits.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said police are carrying out a nationwide crackdown on illegal racers, and vowed to put a stop to all their activities, including crimes that they also commit. Musa told Sin Chew Daily he had directed all state police chiefs to take effective measures to remove this cancer of the society.

Hopefully unlike most politicians that we know, one can hope that the police will keep their words and teach the mat rempits a lesson that they will never, ever forget.

Mat rempit menace is indeed getting out of hand.

Just last week, someone who I know was mobbed and robbed by mat rempits whilst he and his wife were on their way to work. About 15 mat rempits against the couple was something they had not expected – the wife’s neck was cut when one mat rempit pulled her gold chain.

The  mat rempit bike plate numbers was blackened out and crime was done in the open. Thankfully nothing serious was encountered despite some serious bruises here and there and lost of valuables and important documents. When they went to make police report, they were encountered by another victim who been robbed by the same mat rempit group – brutal and merciless.

Apparently the stretch of road was famous with mat rempit menace for some time and it is interesting how the police had allowed the menace to continue. Hopefully with IGP’s latest direction, the local police will double their efforts to take out these mat rempits off the street.

Either that or since the police can’t be everywhere, all the time…provide some of us with some heavy 4 wheel drive vehicles to ram some these mat rempits down under the heavy tires when they high in “action”. For an added bonus – we will be more than happy to do this on a volunteer basis and ya, we will  even pay for the fuel and maintenance.

False Police Report

24 April 2009 B.Joe Leave a comment

It looks like there is a joker on loose in the state of Perak

From Kickdefella:-

“I didn’t know about the said article. I was informed by my staff and I lodged a report,” he said.

When asked if he realised that he could have tarnished Malaysiakini reputation with his police report, Mohd Hilmi asked: “Isn’t Malaysiakini the same as Malaysian Today or some other blogs?”

One Malaysiakini reader had commented:-

I urge you to sue them and also lodge a police report against them for wasting the police’s time and for any other relevant offence that your lawyers can think of.

I hope you won’t let them get away with just an insincere apology

Making a false police report, doing it so on based hearsay and equating Malaysiakini to blogs brings a whole meaning to the word dumb trouble makers, doesn’t it?

The 2009 Breaking News Photography Pulitzer was awarded to Patrick Farrell of the Miami Herald for his coverage of the victims of disastrous storms in Haiti in 2008.

One of the moving photos that caught my eyes was this:-
