Malaysia on Friday confirmed its first case of the A(H1N1) flu in a 21-year-old student who returned from the United States on Wednesday morning.
Whilst we are happy that the Health Ministry have promptly detected the case, what is more worrying is the next statement in the news is this:-
All passengers on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH091 from Newark on Wednesday are urged to contact the Health Ministry by calling 03-88810200 or 03-88810300
Mind you that MH091 is a Boeing 747-400, capable of carrying up to 524 passengers.
The victim landed in KLIA on Wednesday, complaint the sympthoms on Thursday and the government confirmed the case as swine flu on Friday – all in the timespan of 3 days. Imagine the number of people, the victim have been in contact since his departure in Newark – the passengers, the cabin crew, the ground crews, the health workers (at the airport, if they are still screening the passengers), the family members, friends and total stangers.
One domino effect and the politicial circus up in Perak will end up to be something so trivial.
